NHL Tuesday Picks

April is nearly in the books, and with the playoffs fast approaching, tonight’s slate of NHL Tuesday picks is worth talking about. BetRivers.com is proud to provide a wide variety of NHL odds, teasers, props and our NHL Tuesday picks, featuring a heavy dose of the East and Central Division.

Long-time sports broadcaster David Tuchman is here to preview his NHL Tuesday picks and break down the latest odds and trends that impact his betting decisions. We have discussed how the sports odds work on NHL. Do not overlook the tips since they can also take you far as a bettor.

On the season, we are 84-77-1 +1471 – anytime you’re up over 14 units on the season, you can’t complain.

The NHL regular season is heading into the final stretch and with that, comes opportunities. A few teams are in must-win mode as they try to make the playoffs. Some teams are already booking their tee times for golf.

Look for a playoff primer a couple of days before the playoffs begin, but until then, we’ll continue firing on BetRivers.com. As for tonight, April 27th, we’ve got a few intriguing matchups and I feel pretty good about my NHL Tuesday picks.

NHL TUESDAY PICKS:

BUFFALO SABRES (13-29-7, 33pts) at NEW YORK RANGERS (25-18-6, 56pts), 7 p.m. ET
MONEYLINE: Rangers -295 ML, Sabres +245 ML
PUCK LINE: Rangers -1.5 (-124), Sabres +1.5 (+105)
OVER/UNDER: 6.5 goals (+104/-122)

The Rangers are long shots to make the playoffs, but they still have a chance. This Rangers team is really talented and while they don’t match-up that well with the “heavy” playoff hardened teams like the New York Islanders, they crush teams like New Jersey or in this case, Buffalo. Couple this with #1 goalie, Igor Shesterkin in net and the Rangers aren’t losing.

I’m never a fan of laying huge odds in regular-season games, but I’m happy to bet on the more desperate team at home.

The Pick: New York Rangers – 275 ML

DETROIT RED WINGS (17-25-8, 42pts) at COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS (15-25-10, 40pts), 7 p.m. ET
MONEYLINE: Blue Jackets -143 ML, Red Wings +123 ML
PUCK LINE: Blue Jackets -1 (+118), Red Wings +1 (-141)
OVER/UNDER: 5.5 goals (+120/-143)

Detroit has more points than Columbus. Detroit is playing better hockey than Columbus. Detroit is better than Columbus.

Yet, for some reason, Detroit is a fairly sizeable dog in this matchup. This line should be closer to even, so we’ll take the value and run (errr, skate) with it.

The Pick: Detroit +128 ML

TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING (32-14-2, 66pts) at CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS (22-21-5, 49pts), 8 p.m. ET
MONEYLINE: Lightning -186 ML, Blackhawks +160 ML
PUCK LINE: Lightning -1 (-122), Blackhawks +1 (+102)
OVER/UNDER: 6 goals (-103/-118)

Tampa Bay is 6-0-1 against Chicago this season and I expect that trend to continue tonight. Chicago is still holding onto a glimmer of playoff hope, but they know the writing is on the wall. They aren’t making the playoffs. Tampa, on the other hand, can punch their playoff ticket with a win tonight. In addition, the Lightning are in a dog fight with Carolina and Florida for the 1st spot in the Central.

In addition, Tampa should have their big dog in net tonight! Andrei Vasilevsky in goal for the Lightning means they win this one going away.

The Pick: Tampa Bay -172 ML
