The Patriots enter Monday Night Football having lost four straight for the first time in over a decade. The Jets, as most of you are familiar with, have yet to win a game this season and have lost eight of nine games by double-digits. As you would expect, the public is backing the Patriots with 95% of the ML handle and 89% of the spread handle.

Rob Dauster is here to break down the Patriots-Jets Week 9 odds and compares this specific Monday Night Football game to Taco Bell.

Taco Bell is my favorite fast food restaurant and it’s really not close. I don’t understand people that are willing to eat anything else. But I have a confession to make: Since the lockdown began, I really haven’t had a chance to get to Taco Bell all that much. The closest one is 20 minutes away from me, and seeing as I’m already trying to figure out how to drop these COVID-19 pounds I’ve put on, making that drive hasn’t really been a priority.

The result is that the first time I went to Taco Bell in like six months, I got a hangover from eating it! It was a weird feeling. The only way I can explain it is stomach pains and the overall sense that I had ingested some kind of contaminated metal that was passing through my bloodstream and into each one of my extremities.

I say that to say this: That feeling is exactly what I am feeling when I think about betting on the Patriots vs. the Jets on Monday Night Football.

New York is 0-8 on the season and, somehow, still hasn’t fired Adam Gase. Maybe they’re just trying to ensure they win the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes. The Patriots are 2-5 on the season. Maybe they shouldn’t have gotten rid of Tom Brady after all. Combined, these two teams are 4-11 against the spread this season.

This is a lock to be hideous, ugly, uninspiring football. I mean, Joe Flacco is starting!

I don’t even know where to start with this. I would assume that both teams are going to prioritize the running game. That’s just what Bill Belichick does, and it’s what the Jets should do against a New England team that gets gashed on the ground and that can really dial up the pressure on passing downs. Process tell me that taking ten points with an in-division home dog seems like a smart play, but the Jets have covered once this season.

Once!

So for me, the under will be the play here.

If I think it’s going to be awful, I might as well bet on it being awful.
