Cowboys-Eagles Week 3 odds

The 2021 regular season is ready to turn the page to a new week, but before the focus shifts, there is the matter of the Cowboys-Eagles Week 3 odds for Monday Night Football. Both teams enter Monday night 1-1. The Cowboys squeaked out a road win against the Chargers in Week 2 after falling a FB short against the Buccaneers in the Thursday night season-opener. The Eagles decimated the Falcons in Week 1, but let plenty of points on the field in Week 2 against the 49ers, falling 17-11. The Eagles and Cowboys seem to be a step ahead of their NFC East brethren Washington Football Team and New York Giants, meaning Monday night’s catchup could go a long way toward determining which team will win the division. This has all the makings of a Monday Night Classic between two of the best young QBs in the game.

Dallas hosts Philadelphia in what could be a game that goes a long way in deciding who eventually wins the East. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has been wearing his “Beat Dallas” shirt this week – not sure that will be enough to overcome the injury of pass rusher, Brandon Graham, but I suppose it won’t hurt. Not only did the Eagles lose one of their leaders on defense but Graham also led the team with eight sacks last season.

Philadelphia’s secondary has played surprisingly well this season, but they haven’t been tested like they will be tonight. Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper, and CeeDee Lamb present a formidable challenge especially when you have to assume the Eagles’ front four won’t be as good at getting after the QB tonight without Graham.

The key matchup for me is Dallas’ defense against a dangerous Eagles’ offense. The Cowboys haven’t been as bad on defense as most expected this season – don’t get me wrong, their defense (specifically their linebackers) is still quite mediocre, but mediocre is a huge upgrade over what we saw last season.

A week after demolishing the hapless Falcons, The Eagles dominated the first half against the 49ers, but found themselves down 7-3 before eventually falling 17-11. It was disheartening because Philadelphia probably should’ve won the game, but alas they didn’t. It does give me optimism as I consider backing them.

Dallas’ linebackers will have no answer for Jalen Hurts – expect a big game out of the 2nd year QB. As for Dak, Philly’s secondary is good, but without Graham, Dak should have time to find his elite receivers. I’m a bit concerned that Cooper is banged up (He’s playing) and Lamb has a tough matchup vs top cornerback, Darius Slay.

At the end of the day, the Eagles’ performance vs San Francisco actually made me more confident in their ability.  Philadelphia is a pretty solid team. I think they give Dallas all they can handle.

The Pick: Eagles +3.5 (-113)

NOTE:  if you want to move the lines in an NFL game, it’s simple at Betrivers.com Just find “Alternate Lines” underneath the listed point spread and you’ll get more options than you know what to do with.

BONUS: Player props we like tonight

Dallas has two tight ends and they use them both equally – as a result, neither is useful from a fantasy perspective. Couple this with the Eagles having a smothering defense against opposing tight ends and I’m willing to bet against the Dallas TE duo from performing very well.

The Pick: Dalton Schultz UNDER 2.5 receptions +115

I mentioned CeeDee Lamb’s less than ideal matchup against Darius Slay this evening and while I do think Slay will cut into Lamb’s effectiveness, I am still willing to bet on volume. Through two weeks, CeeDee has 24 targets.

The CeeDee breakout party is very real. With Michael Gallup injured (out) and Cooper a bit banged up, there’s no doubt Dak is going to feed Lamb the ball.

CeeDee Lamb OVER 6.5 Receptions +100
