But before we get to the picks, we need to talk about something very important. The latest installment of “Weekend Jenks” details what goes into a college football name.
College Football Week 11 Picks:
Iowa (1-2) at Minnesota (1-2). 7.00 p.m. ET
Moneyline: Iowa -162, Minnesota +132
Spread: Iowa – 3.5
Over/Under: 59 points
Both of these teams are breathing a sigh of relief after finally recording their first wins of the season last Saturday, with Iowa ripping Michigan State 49-7 and Minnesota taking care of business in a 41-14 victory over Illinois. The will be a good, old-fashioned, Big Ten run-fest, with Iowa handing the ball off to Tyler Goodson and Minnesota feeding the nation’s leading rusher, Mohamed Ibrahim.
The difference is that Iowa has the best rush defense in the conference, while the Gophers sit at the bottom. The Pick: Iowa -3.5.

Coastal Carolina (7-0) at Troy (4-3). 12.00 p.m. ET
Moneyline: Coastal -435, Troy +320
Spread: Troy +11
Over/Under: 53 points
UPDATE: As of 10:00 a.m. ET on Friday, Coastal Carolina vs. Troy has been postponed due to an outbreak of COVID and a string of injuries to Troy’s skill position group.
Let me just go ahead and say for the record that I might be sucker for playing this game, but I can’t help myself. The Chanticleers opened -7, and if you got that number, bravo. Now Coastal Carolina is laying 11.5, but I still think there’s value here. Are the boys who rep Teal Nation really that good? Their defense certainly is, ranked 15th in the country.
Meanwhile, the Trojans were held to 235 yards last week in a 20-13 loss to Georgia Southern—which Coastal already beat by two touchdowns earlier this season. The Pick: Coastal -11.5.

#2 Notre Dame (7-0) at Boston College (5-3). 3:30 p.m. ET
Moneyline: Notre Dame -590, Boston College +410
Spread: Notre Dame -13.5
Over/Under: 50 points
Well, well, well, look who just got invited to the pants national championship party. The Fighting Irish bested Clemson 47-40 in double-overtime last Saturday and now hit the road again for a rivalry game against Boston College. The Notre Dame defense has been in lockdown mode for most of the season—Clemson notwithstanding—and Boston College isn’t Clemson.
The Under is 8-1 in the last nine games in this series, and I think quarterback Ian Book will go back to being a game manager and letting Kyren Williams control the clock on the ground. The Pick: Under 49.5.

#11 Oregon (1-0) at Washington State (1-0). 7:00 pm. ET
Moneyline: Oregon -360, Washington State +275
Spread: Oregon -10
Over/Under: 57.5 points
Oregon was good to me last week, and I’m going back to the well with a team that I feel will only get stronger and more dominant as the season continues. Quarterback Tyler Shough had a fine debut in the Ducks’ 35-14 beatdown against Stanford, and the Oregon defense is littered with elite-level talent that should be able to slow down the Cougars and their balanced attack under new head coach Nick Rolovich.
Washington State won’t be an easy out in Pullman, but the Ducks are 5-2 ATS in their last seven, and I like CJ Verdell to wear down the Cougars late. The Pick: Oregon -9.5.
