If there’s one phrase I’m tired of hearing of in 2020, it’s “the new normal.” I know, I know, it’s simple reality, and we all have to deal with it in our own ways. Fortunately, there are still a few things in this crazy year that still bring us that warm and fuzzy feeling like everything is going to be alright. That’s right, baby.

I’m talking MACtion!

The entire freakin’ conference takes the field in a full slate of games on Wednesday night, so let’s take a look at some of the favorites that might be worth some of your futures money on BetRivers.com.

MAC Football Odds: Futures

Buffalo (+250), Ohio (+350), Toledo (+600), Western Michigan (+600), Miami OH (+600), Central Michigan (+900), Ball State (+900), Kent State (+1000), Northern Illinois (+1400), Eastern Michigan (+5000), Bowling Green (+10000), Akron (+10000)

Buffalo is +250 to win the conference after winning six of their final seven games, including a 31-9 victory against Charlotte in the Bahamas Bowl, the first bowl win in school history. The Bulls will once again rely on running back Jaret Patterson, who rushed for almost 1800 yards last season and who is a legitimate NFL talent.

Bettors should also take a hard look at Ohio, which hasn’t had a losing season since a 4-8 effort back in 2008. The Bobcats need to find a quarterback to replace three-year starter Nathan Rourke, and that job will fall to either Rourke’s younger brother Kurtis, a redshirt freshman, or UNLV graduate transfer Armani Rogers.

Three teams can be had to win the MAC at +600—defending champion Miami (OH), Toledo, and Western Michigan. In other words, this should be a wide-open conference race, so let’s jump ahead to some of the better matchups on Wednesday night. And remember, every game is critical with the abbreviated six-game schedule.

Over/Under: 51.5 points

The Huskies were picked to finish last in the conference this season, and bettors are acting like it. Money on the Buffalo has moved this line 3.5 points to Huskies +13. Northern Illinois is an inexperienced bunch with 62 underclassmen on the roster, and the Huskies are 3-8 in their last 11 as a home underdog. Look for the Bulls to do what they do best—pound the football.

Spread: Ohio -3
Over/Under: 58 points

We’ve already talked about the Ohio quarterback situation, but the Bobcats must improve a defense that allowed an average of 27 points per game last season. Central Michigan will go with freshman Daniel Richardson at quarterback, and he’ll pair with a Chippewas defense that allowed only 3.4 yards per carry last season. CMU is 4-0 against the number in its last four games against the Bobcats.

Spread: Miami (OH) -2.0
Over/Under: 55.5 points

The Cardinals return the top offense in the MAC, and they’re hoping for a little less heartbreak in 2020 after losing three conference games last season by a total of four points or less. Ball State is a sneaky dark horse to win the conference, and their futures price currently sits at +900 at BetRivers.com. The RedHawks are coming off a seven-win season and a MAC championship in 2019. They return 17 seniors and are 8-2 ATS in their last ten home games.
