2020 Workday Open Odds: Betting Preview

With Bryson DeChambeau not in the field and Justin Thomas (+1000) back in, there is a clear-cut favorite to hoist the Workday Charity Open title. Thomas did miss the cut in his last outing at the Travelers Championship, but he’s only missed two cuts this season. When Thomas doesn’t miss the cut, he finishes inside the top 20, having done so in eight of ten events thus far.

Patrick Cantlay (+1200) isn’t catching moneymaking odds to win this weekend. But he has a victory and a top 5 finish at Muirfield Village in the past two years, and through six PGA Tour starts this season has finished inside the top 20 all but once.

Bettors love Jon Rahm (+1200 to win), but the Spaniard has cooled off since his hot February. Xander Schauffele (+1600), while not setting the course on fire, has just one missed cut and one finish outside the top 25 this season. Schauffele shot a first-round 63 last week en route to a T20 finish at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Schauffele is +110 to finish in a better position this weekend than Rahm.

Brooks Koepka (+1400) is back in the field following a week absence after his caddie, and the caddie for his brother, Chase, tested positive for COVID-19. Koepka has only one top 10 finish this season, but he’s a player fueled by motivation, and Bryson DeChambeau’s victory last week might just be enough to make him mad.

It’s really hard not to take notice of what Viktor Hovland (+2500) has been doing recently. He’s improved his finishing place in each tournament since the PGA Tour restart. He’s put together back-to-back top 20 finishes, and this could be the week he gets back into the top 10. Hovland is +300 to finish in the top 10 and +600 to finish in the top 5.

Matthew Wolff (+6600) had a strong showing last week in Detroit, finishing in second despite missing the cut in the previous two tournaments. He’s +600 to finish in the top 10 and +250 top 20.
