NHL Wednesday Picks: March 17 Odds
PHILADELPHIA FLYERS (14-9-3, 31pts) vs. NEW YORK RANGERS (11-12-4, 26pts)
MONEYLINE: Flyers -117 ML, Rangers +100
PUCK LINE: Flyers -1 (+143), Rangers +1 (-175)
OVER/UNDER: 6 Goals (-122/+104)
The Flyers have lost 4 of 6 and one of those wins was in a shootout against Buffalo so that barely counts. My point is, this team is not playing their best hockey as of late. Young phenom, Carter Hart has not played like the phenom Philadelphia thought they had. He’s been mediocre to bad in net. His 3.62 GAA and .884 save % rank among the worst goalies in the league.
As for the NY Rangers, they are still missing their young superstar goalie, (Igor Shesterkin) and Alexandar Georgiev hasn’t been great, but Artemi Panarin is back and they’re a different team with him on the ice.
These two faced off two days ago and the Flyers came away with an overtime win so really it could’ve gone either way and I think this outcome should be similar. With that in mind, our money is going on the NY Rangers +117
VANCOUVER CANUCKS (14-16-2, 30pts) at OTTAWA SENATORS (10-20-2)
MONEYLINE: Canucks -148 ML, Senators +128
PUCK LINE: Canucks -1 (+108), Senators +1 (-129)
OVER/UNDER: 6.5 goals (-108/-109)
I never learn my lesson. I have been burned time and time again by the Canucks. This is a team that is woefully inefficient defensively and I should probably never bet on them when they’re favored.
Yet, that’s exactly what we’re doing.
Vancouver has been better recently. They’ve won 2 in a row, 6 of their last 10 and goaltender, Thatcher Demko is back to playing the way he was playing in the bubble. This is a completely different team with him in net.
This is Ottawa’s 3rd game in four nights, while Vancouver should be significantly better rested as they’ve only played two games this week.
Ottawa is a talented team, but they’ve struggled vs Vancouver this season. (0-4 vs Vancouver and outscored 19-5)
I think that trend continues tonight. Vancouver -148 is the play
