It’s only Week 3, but we already get a Monday Night showdown with significant playoff implications as the reigning Super Bowl champs will head to Baltimore to take on Lamar Jackson and a high-powered Ravens running game.
These may be the two best teams in the NFL. There is only going to be one team getting a bye this year. That bye may end up being determined by who wins this game. So yes, there is a lot at stake. It’s going to be fun.
I do think that Baltimore is the better team, and I do think that they will get the win here, but I do not love the line right now. It opened at Baltimore (-2.5) and has since moved through (-3) to (-3.5), and at this point, I think the value may actually be on the Chiefs. As good as I think the Ravens are, it is important to note that their two wins this season have come against the winless Texans and the 2-1 Browns, who own wins over the Bengals and the Washington Football Team.
Plus, this is something of a buy-low opportunity on the Chiefs. They were taken to overtime last week by San Diego, a road game in-division. Throw in the fact that Pat Mahomes is precisely the guy you want with the ball, down 10, needing a touchdown to cover, and if I had to bet on a side here, I would be betting on the Chiefs.

But I don’t love it.
I’m much more interested in taking the under here.
Look, it’s not a secret anymore: The Chiefs are not great at stopping the run. That’s how you beat them. Grind out yards on the ground, keep the clock running, force Mahomes to watch from the sidelines. It’s a tried and true formula, and it’s precisely what the Chargers were able to do quite effectively last Sunday.
The public agrees with me. The total opened at 54.5 and has since dropped to 53.5. If you want to have some fun with it, Bet Rivers right now has a Ravens ML-under 53.5 paying out (+195). That’s tasty.
If you’re into betting props, there are a couple that I like as well. I don’t think a rookie running back is going to have all that much success going up against this Ravens front, so I’ll gladly take Clyde Edwards-Helaire under 64.5 yards at (-112). Along those same lines, and considering the struggles that the Chiefs have against the ground game, I like Mark Ingram over 49.5 yards (-112), Lamar Jackson over 11.5 carries (+114) and Ingram to outgain Edards-Helaire at (+132).
