College Basketball is playing now, but you also have the chance to play online slot games during this time at BetRivers.

The SEC might be a bit “down” this season, but on Wednesday night, the two best teams in the conference go at it as No. 7 Tennessee heads to Columbia, MO to take on N0.12 Missouri

Rob Dauster, a longtime national college basketball writer, and co-founder of the Field of 68 Podcast Network, took a gander at the December 30 CBB lines and breaks down the matchups and numbers that matter when you go to make your bet.

One thing that I have done this season to find a way to be profitable despite hitting on just over 50 percent of my picks is that I have bet heavier in the games where I have a better feel for how the game is going to be played out.

For example, when Gonzaga played Virginia on Saturday, I had two units on Gonzaga -7.5, the over on the Gonzaga team total and the over for the game. You can somewhat mitigate the risk of having too much of your bankroll on one line while also maximizing profits if the game plays out the way you expect.

On Saturday, it played out the way I expected, to say the least. Virginia was overrated, they couldn’t stop Gonzaga and the Fighting Mark Fews pounded UVA in a game where all three of my bets were clear winners by the first TV timeout.

I don’t expect it to play out the same way tonight — betting unders are always a sweat — but I do feel pretty confident in what will happen tonight as No. 7 Tennessee pays a visit to No. 12 Missouri.

It’s going to be U G L Y.

We saw what happened last week when the Tigers took on a Bradley team known for being a tough, physical defense: They needed an and-one on the final possession of the game from Jeremiah Tilmon to complete a comeback from eight points down in the final two minutes and avoid losing at home to the second-best team from the Valley.

I know we saw these Tigers drop 91 points on Illinois, but the Illini cannot guard ball-screens and they just don’t have the physicality in their backcourt to deal with Missouri’s veterans.

Tennessee does.

For my money, Tennessee is one of the most undervalued teams in college basketball right now. They are big, they are athletic, they are versatile and they are led by two of the best individual defenders in the sport in Yves Pons and Keon Johnson. We’ve seen them completely eat up Cincinnati and Colorado, and that was before they were able to find a rhythm against some lesser opponents.

Missouri is probably overrated as the No. 12 team in the country, but they are still one of the four or five best teams in the SEC, and they will be able to get stops. I’m not too worried about that. Remember, Cuonzo Martin and Tennessee had a pretty ugly falling out, so it should not be a surprise if he has his program fired up and ready to make a statement.

I expect that impact to come on the defensive end.

So if both teams’ defenses are going to thrive and if both teams want to play slow, that screams the under. I will also be on the under for Missouri’s team total as well as Tennessee (-3.5).

This strategy has worked well so far this season.

Here’s to hoping the run-good continues tonight.
