2020 NBA odds for playoff restart

The 2020 NBA Championship will be determined by a 22-team regular season and 16-team playoff tournament beginning July 30 in Orlando, and BetRivers.com is proud to provide a wide variety of 2020 NBA odds, futures, and team markets.

The regular season will consist of eight games for each of the 22 teams, with playoff seeding based on the results of the entire regular season. There is also a potential for a play-in game to determine the No. 8 seed in the playoffs if the No. 9 seed is within four games when the eight-game regular season ends.

The entire event will be held at the Walt Disney World resort, with no fans in attendance.

The NBA season will return with Jazz vs. Pelicans at 6:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, July 30, followed by Lakers vs. Clippers at 9:00 p.m. ET.

2020 NBA Odds: Betting Preview

The Los Angeles Lakers (+150) are the favorites to emerge from the Western Conference, with the Los Angeles Clippers (+180) nipping at their heels. The Houston Rockets (+800) are also considered to be one of the top three favorites to win the West.

The Lakers lead the way in NBA Finals bets (+250), with 32 percent of the handle on LeBron James and company to win it all. The Lakers and Clippers represent a combined 88 percent of the betting handle to win the Western Conference. The Rockets are the third most popular team.

  • LeBron James has received 55 percent of the handle to win NBA MVP since bets were placed back up upon news of the NBA restart.

There is a lot of talk about the Pelicans (+8000 Western Conference) being a trendy pick to make noise, led by No. 1 overall pick and Rookie of the Year candidate Zion Williamson (+1400 ROY winner). But the betting public has yet to fully invest in the Pelicans, as New Orleans is receiving just the seventh most total NBA bets.

In the Eastern Conference, the Milwaukee Bucks (-167) are the clear-cut favorites to make the 2020 NBA Finals, with the Toronto Raptors (+700) and Boston Celtics (+800) the only teams within earshot. Unsurprisingly, 70 percent of the total handle for Eastern Conference Champions is on Milwaukee. The 76ers and Celtics both represent 12 percent of the handle to win the East.

  • The five largest BetRivers.com wagers on the NBA restart have all focused on the Bucks to win the East.

An NBA Finals showdown between the Bucks and the Lakers sits atop the board at +310, and is the most popular NBA Finals matchup bet, receiving 55 percent of the handle.
