The Barclay’s English Premier League, the most iconic domestic soccer league in the world, returns to the pitch for the first time since March 9 to resume 2020 league play beginning on Wednesday, Jun 17. Aston Villa and Sheffield United welcome the EPL back to action at 1:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, June 17, with Manchester City and Arsenal, two of the EPL’s most identifiable sides, kicking off at 3:15 p.m. ET.

The four sides competing on Wednesday have 29 games left in the season, with the remaining 16 teams having 28 games left. Arsenal, Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Sheffield United will each play two games between Wednesday, June 17 and Monday, June 22.

Unlike previous EPL seasons in which only a select number of games are broadcast on television each matchweek, all remaining 2019-2020 EPL games will be made available with Amazon Prime and on BBC, as well as its traditional broadcast partners Sky Sports and BT Sport.

With 92 matches remaining on the schedule, the EPL season will conclude after a six week period fo games at approved stadiums with no fans in attendance.

2020 EPL Odds: Betting Preview

Liverpool (Off the Board) currently sits atop the EPL standings with a staggering 25-point lead over second-place Manchester City (+10000 win), needing just two wins to clinch the title. While the EPL has seen its fair share of magic, namely Leicester City’s improbable 2015-2016 EPL championship run, anything other than a Liverpool championship would be the most shocking turn of events in league history.

But storylines pick up as you glance down the standings to the final spot for UEFA Champions League qualification. Chelsea (-167 Top 4 finish) currently sit in fourth place, just three points ahead of Manchester United (+175 Top 4), with Wolverhampton Wanderers (+800 Top 4, +120 Top 6) just two points behind Man U.

Tottenham (+1400 Top 4, +200 Top 6) and Arsenal (+1600 Top 4, +225 Top 6), two of the EPL’s most revered sides, currently sit in eighth and ninth place, respectively. For Tottenham, this would be the club’s first time missing out on both the Champions League and Europa Cup since 2008-2009. For Arsenal, the 2018-19 Europa Cup runners up, missing out on a Top 6 finish would mean their first absence from UEFA competition since 1995-1996.

The race to avoid relegation is also an intriguing one. West Ham United, Watford, and AFC Bournemouth resume play tied with 27 points. Aston Villa, which made its return to the EPL after a three-year stint in the Championship Division, is in jeopardy of being relegated back down. Villa spent 24 straight seasons in the top division before being relegated in 2016.
